The latest update from Trust director on the club board Don Bircham...

It’s been a relatively successful period on the pitch since my last update, securing 7 points from a possible 12 and completion of the first phase of the William Hill Premiership. There is never a dull moment with Killie these days and after a sore one at Falkirk, we responded fantastically well with a great win against league leaders Hearts. That was followed up with a 2-0 win against bottom club Livingston and helped widen the gap between both clubs. Next, we were on our travels to Easter Road with a great following from the Killie faithful. We played well for long periods of the match, however, two goals in twelve minutes from Hibs, the first within a minute, left us with an uphill climb that was ultimately beyond us.

Our home tie against Dundee was great from a neutral’s perspective, but not so much if you are willing the Killie boys to secure three points. The drama went to nearly 100 minutes including a six-minute penalty check that was eventually given and superbly saved by Kelle Roos. Never a dull moment. It was great to meet up with Gordon Strachan after the match and get his perspective on things, it was an entertaining analysis. So, we head into the second phase with two home and three away matches, and everything to play for.

Away from matters on the pitch, I wanted to share a brief update following the launch of Kilmarnock FC’s 2026/27 season ticket campaign. The club has positioned this as an important moment, both on and off the pitch, with a clear focus on continued progress and long-term development. This summer will see the return of a natural grass pitch at Rugby Park for the first time in over 12 years, alongside the completion of phase one of Bowie Park, providing enhanced training facilities ahead of the new season.

From a pricing perspective, the club has taken the decision to freeze early bird prices for the 2026/27 season and apply only a modest increase to full price tickets. This approach reflects the current cost of living environment, whilst recognising the need for the club to remain financially sustainable and competitive. The early bird window runs until 1st July, offering the best value for supporters who can commit early. As always, season ticket income plays a vital role in supporting the club, helping to invest in the first team and underpin continued progress both on and off the pitch.

The Killie Trust has committed to investing £150,000 towards the club’s return to grass for next season. The Trust had initially set an ambitious target of £120,000 to invest in the Pitch In campaign. Thanks to the generosity of members and donors, this mark is set to be surpassed in just a few months’ time, with the total currently standing at over £107,000. To continue the momentum of the campaign, the Trust board of directors has decided to keep the investment going until the £150,000 mark is reached.

It was a pleasure to welcome some of our Trust Exiles to the Dundee match with the furthest of those travelling 4,000 miles just to be at Rugby Park! It was their eighth match together since the group started in 2022, and during that time they have only witnessed one defeat, although three of the other games have been draws with Dundee! I understand they had a good time, taking in a tour of the ground and enjoying lunch in The Trust Club. The Exiles group meet at Rugby Park twice a year and we look forward to welcoming them again next season.

It’s been a great pleasure to visit my old primary school in Kilmarnock and help provide funding for the Killie Community Gamechangers programme, 10 weekly sessions consisting of football coaching and educational workshops, rounding it off with a full school fun day. The Hillhead (or Hullheed) is where it all started for me, and I have fond memories of my time there including winning the Dunlop Trophy and reaching the final of the Ayrshire Cup. Mr Spooner is doing a great job in some challenging circumstances and welcomes the support. The head teacher’s office is exactly as I remember it, but it was the first time I ever entered without being in trouble!

We have just one match left in The Trust Club this season and we are set to welcome Mark Roberts for the home game against Dundee. Unfortunately, there are prior bookings in the hotel so there will be no event pre-match ahead of the Dundee United game. This pre-match space for Trust members has been a huge success this year and we look forward to growing it in the seasons to come.

And finally:

  • Last two home matches are Dundee United (2nd May) and Dundee (12th May). Special offer on hospitality at £95pp. Get a few friends together and have a good day out whilst backing the boys.
  • Work has started on the foundations for the brick wall reinstatement project at the Moffat Stand. The club will reveal more details shortly.
  • Killie shop sale is now 2 x adult shirts for £42 and 2 x kids shirts for £35 across the entire 2025/26 playing range…… get them whilst stocks last!
  • Killie Ladies play Spartans under the lights on Friday, April 24 at Rugby Park. Come out and support them in their final push for promotion to SWPL 1.
