Trust in Killie Financial Update - July 2023

On behalf of the Trust Board, I would like to give you an update on our 'Trust In Killie' fundraising campaign finances.

Following the positive vote from members, our partnership with the KFC Academy, now including the women’s first team and girls academy, has been extended for another two years. To facilitate this, we have transferred £60,000 to the club.

At the end of June, the balance of Trust in Killie finances sits at £95,779.15

POTENTIAL PROJECTS

HAND RAILS

As mentioned in our previous financial report, we explored the possibility of installing hand rails at the end of seat rows within the Frank Beattie and East Stands to assist elderly supporters getting up and down steep stairs.  To conform with safety certificate guidelines, different passageway widths have necessitated two different designs, the East Stand passageway being narrower.

imageimage

Quotes for the manufacture and installation of these painted rails for the Frank Beattie are £48 each plus vat. The East stand, with seat attached type, are costed at £67 plus vat each.

After consultation, it was recommended that consideration be given to installing these initially at both sides of the passageways, every two steps. This would give an estimated cost for the project of £19,000 + VAT.

We will put this project to our members for consideration shortly.

AUDIO EQUIPMENT UPGRADE FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED SUPPORTERS

In 2022, the Trust acquired a new transmitter to augment the HBSA match day audio commentary going to visually impaired supporters attending games at Rugby Park.

To further improve this facility, the Trust are now exploring the cost of increasing and upgrading the receiver units to improve connection and audio quality.

We are currently exploring the best options for this and will provide more detail in the near future to allow members to make an informed decision on whether to proceed with this project.

BOARD DISCUSSION

image

We met with Billy Bowie and our Club's General Manager, Gregg McEwan last week to discuss a range of issues, including the Club's thoughts on funding priorities. Several ideas were muted and a further meeting is planned in the next couple of weeks after which we hope to provide an update to you all.

As always, we very much welcome your views. Proposals for any projects, when costed, will be put to Trust members for views and vote before commitment is made.

Once again, we would sincerely like to thank all our members and subscribers for your continued and very much valued support.

Regards

Jim Thomson (Killie Trust, chair)

Trust in Killie Financial Update - April 2023

On behalf of the Trust Board, I would like to give you an update on our 'Trust In Killie' fundraising campaign finances.

Whilst exploring a number of LED screen options for Rugby Park, we have continued to accrue funds which would have allowed significant financial support for this project. Initial costing and ongoing expenditure proved much greater than initially anticipated and likely advertising revenue much less. As a result, it has been decided not to take this project beyond the exploratory phase meantime.

Following our Club's detailed financial report at the recent AGM, we are looking to prioritise our funding to offset some of the financial challenges ahead.

Our partnership with the Academy is nearing an end. With our ongoing commitment to other youth related projects, we are engaging with the Club on possibly extending this important association to include the Girls Academy and also the Women's first team. This, we believe, would further enhance our profile in a positive way, whilst giving these important areas of the Club much needed financial support.

We are also exploring what financial assistance we might give towards improving our stadium facilities for community use, like the installation of hand rails at the end of seat rows within the East Stand to assist elderly supporters getting up and down steep stairs.

As always, we would welcome your views. Proposals for any projects, when costed, will be put to Trust members for views and vote before commitment is made.

Once again, we would sincerely like to thank all our members and subscribers for your continued and very much valued support.

'Trust in Killie' Financial Update 27 (November/ December 2021)

On behalf of the Trust Board, I would like to give you an update on our 'Trust In Killie' fundraising campaign finances for the period, November and December 2021.

During this period, thanks to the continuing generosity of subscribers, we have realised another outstanding total of £14,887.70.

Helping us achieve this overall sum were additional contributions, via our collection cans, from the following local businesses -

•          Burns Inn, Kilmarnock (£60),
•          Pete's Store, Dreghorn (£50)

Our sincere thanks go to all customers and staff who are contributing in this fashion. It is genuinely appreciated.

If you would like a collection can for your business premises to help support this campaign, please email us at - [email protected].

As a result of all these payments, our balance at the end of December is £95,940.18.

From this, £18,000 has been transferred for our second year partnership with the KFC Academy, with their new season just having started.

With covid restrictions again affecting cashflow and, to offset soaring material costs for our wheelchair viewing platform, we are investing an additional £40,000 in our Club at this financially crucial time when we are also trying to compete in the transfer market.

This will leave our 'TiK' campaign with a total of £37,940.18 to carry forward into the New Year, with a view to funding future supporter-led projects.

Once again, we would sincerely like to thank all members and subscribers for your continued and much valued support.

Together we ARE stronger!

Dear Killie Trust member,

On behalf of the Trust Board, I would like to give you an update on our 'Trust In Killie' fundraising campaign finances for the months of March and April 2021.

During this period, thanks to the continuing generosity of subscribers, we have realised another fantastic two monthly total of £15,419.38.

As a result of these payments, our current balance at the end of April is £49,919.55.

This report marks the fourth anniversay of our first 'Trust in Killie' monthly total, where forty five subscribers raised £846.
Thirty three of this original number have contributed throughout this period.

'Trust in Killie' Financial Update 23 (January/ February 2021)

On behalf of the Trust Board, I would like to give you an update on our 'Trust In Killie' fundraising campaign finances for the months of January and February 2021.

During this period, 51 new subscribers have added their commitment to our funding initiative and, overall, the continuing generosity of subscribers has realised another fantastic two monthly total of £16,093.97.

This sum was bolstered by a fantastic gesture from Stuart Pell (The Espresso Kart) who donated the £400 that he raised by auctioning his car registration plate incorporating the letters 'KFC'.

As a result of payments, our current balance at the end of February is £50,500.17

From this total, another £16,000 has recently been transferred to the Club, leaving our balance at £34,500.

It is now exactly a year since Covid-19 locked us out of Killie matches. Since then, we're proud to announce that nearly £137,000 has been invested into our Club to assist with the not inconsiderable financial challenges created  by the virus.

We will, of course, continue to support the Club in this way, especially during this traditionally difficult time of year financially.

Once again we'd like to sincerely thank members and subscribers for your continued and much valued support during a very challenging period for everyone.

With very best wishes from the Trust Board.

'Trust in Killie' Financial Update 22 (December 2020)

On behalf of the Trust Board, I would like to give you an update on our 'Trust In Killie' fundraising campaign finances for the months of November and December 2020.

The continuing generosity of subscribers has realised another fantastic two monthly total of £15,098.61

This sum was bolstered by the donation of over £1,200 from the auction of several 1985 - 88 Mitchell & Struthers/Tourhill Joinery match worn Killie shirts. These were originally given by the Club to Trust member Elsie Cook, who donated them to Barry Richmond and the Trust.

As a result of these payments, our current balance at the end of December is £49,406.20

In mid-March, Trust members overwhelmingly (98%) backed the Trust Board's proposal that monthly 'Trust In Killie' subscriptions be transferred directly to the Club to assist with financial challenges created  by Covid-19. Since then, we have invested £97,800 into KFC.

We will continue to support the Club in this way, especially just now as the beginning of the year is traditionally a difficult time financially. As such, another £15,000 has been transferred to the Club, leaving our balance at £34,406.

Graeme Bryson, the Club's Company Secretary contacted the Trust recently and commented "The support from the Trust is nothing less than fantastic. The club do appreciate this hugely and I am sure the board convey that to you."

Once again we'd like to sincerely thank members and subscribers for your continued and much valued support during a very challenging period for everyone.

With very best wishes from the Trust Board for a happier and healthy 2021.

On behalf of the Trust Board, I would like to give you an update on our 'Trust In Killie' fundraising campaign finances for the months of September and October 2020.

The continuing generosity of subscribers has realised the fantastic two-monthly total of £15,141.

Project Payments
During this period, payments have been completed for the hygiene equipment project and also year one of our KFC Academy partnership.

Forty hand sanitisers and hands free bins have been installed within the stadium.

In addition, ten mobile sanitising stations have now been delivered for use at turnstiles when we are allowed to return to Rugby Park.

Currently, these mobile stations are being regularly utilised by the KFC Academy, KCST for community activities and by customers attending the Killie Shop.

Special thanks go Gordon Presly and Colin & Christine Harkness for their significant financial contribution specifically towards these mobile stations.

The KFC board rechannelled August's £7,000 investment to our Academy partnership, with the remaining first year balance of £11,000 now transferred to the Club also.

The second year investment of  £18,000 is scheduled to be paid by installments in June & July next year.

As a result of these payments, our current balance at the end of October is £34,307.

Once again we'd like to sincerely thank members and subscribers for your continued and much valued support.

Dear Killie Trust member,

On behalf of the Trust Board, I would like to give you an update on our 'Trust In Killie' fundraising campaign finances for August 2020.

'Trust In Killie' Financial update 18 (June 2020)

This month’s total of £8,247 was swelled by the £800 as a result of the auction for the commemorative ‘64/65 shirt signed by Ronnie Hamilton and Davie Sneddon.

We also received welcome donations of £100 from both Trust member John Miller and from the customers of Ralph’s Newsagents, Low Glencairn Street, Kilmarnock, via their 'Trust In Killie' collection tin.

The Club are extremely grateful for the £79,800 injected into the Club so far during ‘lockdown’ and this sum will once again purchase KFC shares to be held by the Trust. Following a further £7,000 donation to the Club at the end of this month, we plan to return to funding supporter-led projects.

We are in the process of fleshing out some projects for members to consider next month and, as always, we welcome your suggestions for these.

Dear Killie Trust members and 'Trust In Killie' subscribers,

This financial update marks the third anniversary of our 'Trust In Killie' campaign. In 2017, the first monthly total saw £846 start our initiative and some significant milestones have been passed since.

An unbelievable £210,000 has been invested in Kilmarnock Football Club during this period, with over £65,000 having gone into our Club since 'lockdown' was imposed.

The Trust Board, sincerely, would like to thank all of our subscribers, particularly during this time of personal financial uncertainty, for their generosity which is genuinely valued by our Club during this very difficult time.

With very best wishes

UPDATE #14

Subscriber Total -  395  |  Entry Level - 121  |  Standard - 184  |  Plus - 79  |  Other - 9

Monthly Subscriptions - £6,361  |  Phase Two banked so far - £86,208

In Brief: Since our last financial update, we’ve raised another £20,000 which, by our estimates, will mean that the current total should approximately cover costs for the completion of the rail seating and wheelchair viewing platform projects. A fantastic achievement once again by all of our subscribers. There has been a regular monthly drop off of subscribers recently but that isn’t unusual at this time of year. It’s good to report that a number of people who had previously cancelled their monthly mandates have returned to our campaign and we are working on a strategy to encourage more Killie fans to join this initiative. The Trust Board would like to thank one and all for the valued contributions to our campaign. Every single pound is making a real difference to the Club. Every pound also secures a KFC share, held by the Trust for our members. When the rail seating and wheelchair viewing platform invoices have been received and paid, we will become the Club’s third largest shareholder.

Project Updates: The good news is that the Rail Seating has been delivered to Rugby Park. The Club are currently working with the architects and East Ayrshire Council, from a safety testing perspective, and with the installers to arrange a mutually suitable date to get these areas in place, avoiding the players training times of course. Our fingers are crossed that we’ll all have something to sing about at our home game against Hearts. There’d be a kind of symmetry if that were to happen as our TiK campaign was launched at our home game against Hearts in April 2017. The wheelchair viewing platform plans are currently with council departments and architects who are working together to ensure that all the criteria is met, with the ambition of work beginning in early 2020.

TiK Phase 3: It’s time to turn our attention to projects new. Since the inception of TiK, all of our projects have required long term funding to reach our targets. Whilst we will continue to look at longer term issues, the Trust Board feel it is time to devote a smaller percentage of the monthly total towards funding schemes that can be completed within 2/3 months, allowing subscribers the opportunity to vote more regularly on where they think funding should be targeted. With all of this in mind, we’d like to hear your ideas on what you think ‘Trust in Killie’ should be tackling next (projects large or small) for the benefit of the Club and our supporters. We will also liaise with the various departments of the football club to establish what they believe the priorities to be then we can all make an informed choice via a vote. Please email your ideas/thoughts to [email protected].
