Trust directors and members tackle Roon the Toon for good causes

Killie Trust directors and members tackled the Roon the Toon 10k in June to benefit good causes.

Trust director on the club board Don Bircham raised almost £1,500 for Reverse Rett – almost three times his original target.

Rett syndrome is a rare, severe neurological disorder that primarily affects girls. It causes a loss of purposeful hand use, language, and motor skills, typically following a period of normal development in early infancy. 

While there is no cure, treatments focus on managing symptoms and improving quality of life.

Killie legend Mark Reilly has been a supporter and now employee of the charity for many years, as his daughter Dionne suffers from the condition. 

Don said: "It’s a privilege to support this well deserving charity and work with our very own Killie legend Mark ‘Mavis’ Reilly in raising funds.

Mark added: "A huge thank you to Don for supporting Reverse Rett by taking part in the Roon the Toon. Your effort, kindness and support mean so much to families like ours.

"I’m personally so grateful to Don for thinking of both me and my daughter Dionne.

“Dionne suffers from Rett Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that affects every part of her daily life, and knowing people care enough to support charities like Reverse Rett means more than words can say."

Fellow Trust director Adam Lyon also took in the run with his dad and Trust member Ally, raising just over £300 towards the Pitch In campaign which supports the club’s return to grass.

Trust members John and Alison Burns also smashed the 10k and raised an estimated £250 for the Pitch In campaign.
