Killie Trust members hear from Neil McCann in exclusive evening

28 July 2026 · Jamie Hodkinson
Trust members got the opportunity to hear from Neil McCann during our ‘Meet the Manager’ event on Monday night. Hosted by Trust member Chris Mallaband, it was a fantastic evening in a sold-out 1869 Suite as fans got a great insight into how the manager works, as well as inside stories about notable players and managers of old. This was a unique opportunity for Trust members, showcasing one of the many benefits of joining The Killie Trust. Overall, it was a positive night and got everyone in the mood for the new season starting this weekend. The audience got to listen to the Chris' questions to the gaffer and also had the chance to ask a few of their own. McCann shared that being at the World Cup had been a dream of his as a boy and that he came away feeling proud to be Scottish. The gaffer was asked about the development of Bowie Park and our new grass pitch, with the Trust contributing £150,000 through the Pitch In campaign. McCann spoke very highly of the new surface, suggesting that we will have one of the best pitches in the country along with the development of our new state-of-the-art training facilities.
He also addressed questions about the team’s momentum and direction going into the new season, telling the audience that his players still have not reached their peak and that there is plenty more to come. McCann was confident about the team’s abilities and his new signings going into the start of the season, particularly our first game back at Rugby Park. The manager provided fans with a positive message for the coming season, discussing his excitement and ambition for the future. It was met with a real enthusiasm by those in the room who thanked the gaffer for his efforts last year. McCann made sure to praise the supporters for their backing last season and their dedication in pre- season to travel up and down the country for Premier Sports Cup matches. The gaffer urged fans to get behind the team over the coming months, as well as mentioning his wish to see attendances at Rugby Park grow. McCann highlighted that his team were going to be brave this season and play with a real swagger. The session was brought to a close by Jim Thomson, chair of the Trust. Jim continued the positivity in the room and urged fans get involved with as many aspects of Kilmarnock Football Club and the Trust as they could. Jim asked Trust members in attendance to spread the positivity created by the event and to carry it forward for the rest of the season.
